Who did not grow up with this magnificent play, Molière’s Avare?
The opportunity has come to discover or rediscover this great classic, written by Molière in 1668.
Molière portrays with humor, his contemporary society and himself.
Molière deals with several subjects in this play: greed in the first place, as well as domestic tyranny, selfishness and what today is called sexism.
Synopsis: Harpagon (played by Michel Boujenah), is an old father, who has loved money more than his own family, to the point that he suspects everyone of wanting to steal it. He imposes on his son Cléante, to marry a rich widow, and for his daughter Elise, a rich Noble much older than her. He does all this to get rid of them and to be able to marry Mariane, a beautiful young girl, much younger than him and penniless, with whom he has fallen in love.
The play is being performed at the Théâtre des Variétés from January 15, 2022 to April 10, 2022.
